From Pilates to Lagree: My Fitness Plot Twist
I walked into a Pilates class expecting stretching. I walked out shaking, humbled, and completely hooked.
Type
Lagree / Pilates
Duration
50 min class
Difficulty
Harder than it looks
I signed up for Pilates because I thought it would be gentle. Stretching, maybe some core work, nothing too intense. I was wrong. So, so wrong.
The first class was reformer Pilates. Within ten minutes my legs were shaking. Within twenty I was questioning every life choice that led me to this moment. The instructor kept saying "just four more" in a voice so calm it was almost menacing. My muscles were screaming. I was screaming (internally).
But something happened after that first class. I felt different. Not just sore โ aligned. Like my body had been put back together in a way it hadn't been for years. I slept better that night than I had in months.
I went back. And again. And again. Then someone told me about Lagree โ basically Pilates on a machine that looks like a medieval torture device but makes you feel like a superhero after. The Megaformer is slow, controlled movements that make you shake in places you didn't know could shake.
The shift from regular Pilates to Lagree was a game changer. The slow movements build deep strength. There's no momentum to hide behind โ it's just you and gravity and the sheer will to hold a plank for 90 seconds while your entire body vibrates.
Six months in and I'm stronger than I've ever been. Not in a "lift heavy things" way, but in a "my body actually works properly" way. My posture is better. My back pain is gone. I can hold a plank without crying (mostly).
The biggest surprise? I actually look forward to it. Me โ the person who used to consider walking to the fridge as exercise. If that's not a plot twist, I don't know what is.
My Verdict
If you've ever thought Pilates is easy, try Lagree. It will humble you, transform you, and become the best hour of your week. Trust me on this one.
